Boxing: Kim Clavel will return to the ring on April 4th

The Yvon Michel Group (GYM) announced that boxer Kim Clavel will appear at a gala on April 4 at the Montreal Casino.

This will be the former WBC champion's first fight since her split decision loss to Evelyn Bermudez on October 7.

The 33-year-old pugilist is currently training in Cuba.

“My passion for the sport is still there. The path is not always easy, but boxing is what I love and boxing is what I will do. See you soon as I head back to the heat of Havana for another workout,” Clavel said in a statement released by GYM on Wednesday.

The organizer also announced that galas will be held at the Montreal Casino on March 14 and May 16. Mathieu Germain and Mazlum Akdeniz will compete in the final.

GYM also stated that Marie-Pier Houle, Caroline Veyre, Derek Pomerleau and Abed El Safadi will take part in one or more of these programs.

The announcement of the holding of these three boxing galas comes a day after Quebec's Régie des alcohols, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) decided to suspend gym permits for two months, until March 12. This sanction was imposed due to incidents that occurred during the gala with Clavel on October 7th at Place Bell. After the latter's defeat, Yvon Michel and GYM vice-president Alexandra Croft were said to have verbally attacked a representative of the RACJ.
