In 2020, Boy George announced his mother had returned home in April after a two-day hospitalization with “heart or lung problems.”

Dinah required medical attention at Greenwich Hospital for issues unrelated to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, but was later released into the care of her family.

And speaking to Lorraine from his home in London, George shared his relief that his mother had left the area where she could potentially contract the killer bug.

He said: “My mother is fine, she is back home now. She was in the hospital for two days, luckily it wasn’t Corona related, so that’s good.

“And it wasn’t what we thought initially, so it was just getting her home from the hospital because obviously my mum is 82 with everything that’s going on, so it’s not the best place for.” she.”

Reflecting on Dinah’s time in hospital, George admitted she had received the best care possible from dedicated NHS staff who did their best to keep her spirits high.

“I managed to get her on the phone, which was really fun,” he recalls. “There was this really beautiful moment where this nurse was singing to mom, and my mom was like, ‘I can’t hear you, take your mask off!’

George previously asked fans to pray for his “beautiful mother” after doctors said after her hospitalization that they “won’t resuscitate if anything goes wrong”.

Taking to Twitter, the Culture Club star wrote: “My beautiful mother is at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich.

“A problem with her heart or her lungs. She’s stable but they said they won’t revive her if something goes wrong? Apparently that doesn’t work? How can they know. please pray @LG_NHS.’

In 2017, he described how he once kept his mother alive after an overdose.

Speaking about Piers Morgan’s life stories, he said: “She was on pills. I remember somehow keeping her awake and not really understanding what was happening.

Regarding the issues between his mother and father, George had said: “I always told my mother to leave my father when I was nine years old.

“I loved my father, don’t get me wrong, I really loved him, but he wasn’t a good father and he wasn’t a good husband.”

George also said: “My father was quite an extreme man. (He) could lose his temper and chuck the whole Sunday lunch and everyone would starve.

“He hit us all the time, hit us, but in the ’70s everybody hit you. A lot has happened.

“He flew off pretty easily, but he was also extremely charismatic and funny. He was a real contradiction and it wasn’t until I was about 15 or 16 that I realized how strong my mother was.
