Early games on qualifying Sunday prompted some changes to the grid. In particular, Richmond’s victory over Davidson in the Atlantic 10 tournament final put the Spiders on the field and knocked Xavier out of my draw. Richmond is 13th in my grid.

The new “last four” are Indiana, San Francisco, Notre Dame and Michigan.

Yes Michigan. While I don’t believe metrics make decisions for the committee, it can be hard to ignore the combination of Michigan’s chart power, results, and metrics despite Michigan’s record. Each of the metrics on the team sheets would select Wolverine as the team at large if they made a decision.

The “first four” are BYU, Xavier, Rutgers, and SMU.

Tennessee won the SEC tournament over Texas A&M. I still have Aggie in the grid after The Last Four. Volunteers climbed to second place. There are three SEC teams in this lane, making it difficult to hit the grid.

I believe the top seeds in the bracket are already set. Gonzaga should be number one in Sunday’s draw, followed by Arizona’s Pac-12 champion, Kansas Big 12 champion and Baylor’s reigning national champion.

Perdue is still in fourth place second and is likely to win or lose to Iowa in the Big Ten tournament final.

I don’t expect Houston-Memphis in the final game of the AAC Tournament to affect the bracket as well.

Another new team in the draw is Yale, who beat Princeton to win the Ivy League championship and automatic bid.
