Brad Pitt teased in a candid new interview that he’s nearing retirement after more than 30 years in the entertainment industry.
“I consider myself to be on my last leg,” the 58-year-old actor said in his August 2022 GQ cover story. “This final semester or trimester. What will this section be? And how do I want to do that?”
Pitt, who began acting at the age of 22, has starred in cult films such as Fight Club, Moneyball, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the Ocean’s Eleven series.
“I’m one of those creatures that speaks through art,” he continued. “I just always want to do it. If I don’t do anything, I kind of die.”
While the Oscar-winning actor hasn’t given up work just yet, he has given up something else: cigarettes.

Pitt told the magazine that he decided to quit smoking during the COVID-19 pandemic because he’s “at the age where nothing good will come of it.”
“I think joy is a more recent discovery, later in life,” he shared. “I was always going with the current, drifting in one direction and on to the next. I think I spent years with a bit of depression and it was only when I came to terms with it and tried to embrace all sides of myself – the beautiful and the ugly – that I was able to capture those moments of joy.”

The Departed producer currently resides in a home in Hollywood Hills, California that he bought in 1994 amid his rise to stardom.
While he told GQ he’s been “pretty hiding out” in the once “dilapidated and ramshackle” fixer-upper, Pitt will soon resurface to promote his latest film, Bullet Train, which hits theaters August 5 comes .
