Bradley Beale says it’s “fair” to say he’s leaning towards re-signing with the Washington Wizards

Bradley Biel says he is in no hurry to decide on his future, but admitted that he is in favor of re-signing with the Washington Wizards this offseason.

“It’s fair,” Beale told reporters in Washington on Thursday when asked if he was willing to stay with the Wizards. “It’s fair.”

Beal has the right to sign a five-year, $ 246 million deal with the Wizards if he refuses to choose a $ 36.4 million player for 2022-23.

The Washington Star Watch is absent for the season after undergoing surgery on his left wrist. However, Biel says the injury has allowed him to take a good look at the Wizards and the young players who get more opportunities with expanded roles in his absence.

“As crazy as it sounds, it’s also a disguised blessing,” Beale said of his injury. “Since I see the team, I see how our young boys are developing, I see the coach [Wes Unseld Jr.] also continue to evolve. I see that we are growing as a team. I don’t have to hurry with a decision, I don’t have to hurry with anything. “

Biel said he has always had “direct communication” with Washington owner Ted Leonsis and team president and general manager Tommy Shepard.

“Shep, Ted, we’re all fine,” Beale said. “We know what this summer is.”

Biel said he was excited to see Christaps Porzingis, who was acquired by Dallas in the trading deadline, play after being cleared of a knee injury.

“He’s the Unicorn,” Beale said. “He’s definitely unique in many ways. So I’m excited to see him on the floor, for sure. He can be special.”

Biel said the biggest factors in his decision to remain a magician will be the team that presents a list that is committed to winning and pursuing Unseld’s vision, while remaining an organization committed to the community off the court.

“And he’s obviously winning,” Beale said. “I have a winning environment, a group of guys who are committed to winning, buying what the coach wants, buying what the organization needs. Obviously, I play a factor in this. I have to be better … but being around a group of guys who want to win and who will get involved in what we have to do is important. “

The 28-year-old Beal knows what lies ahead for him and the Wizards this offseason.

“It’s a big summer,” he said. “I’m as excited about it as I am about Ted and Tommy. It’s a great summer.”
