Bradley Walsh is shocked to find out the Chase contestant is the forgotten Coronation Street star

Bradley Walsh was surprised to star opposite another Coronation Street actor in The Chase.

The 63-year-old TV presenter starred in the ITV soap as Danny Baldwin from 2004 to 2006, but has since then mainly focused on his presenting career.

During Monday’s episode of The Chase, Bradley introduced four new players to the audience; Nina, Florence, Chris and Scott.

Nina was the first contestant and told Bradley that she worked as a model booker in Warrington.

When asked how she got there, Nina said: “I was already in the program as a TV extra, did a bit of modeling myself and finally ended up in the office.”

Bradley immediately asked her if she had ever been an extra on Coronation Street, to which she replied: “Often.”

Bradley then asked, “Did you ever work on it when I was working on it?” to which Nina said, “No, unfortunately not.”

Bradley first found fame in 1997 when he hosted the popular game show Wheel of Fortune on ITV, before adding The Chase, Odd One In, Keep It in the Family and Cash Trapped to his CV added.

With a fortune of £18.6 million, he is currently Britain’s richest solo TV presenter.

Coronation Street was his first acting role, after which he played the role of DS Ronnie Brooks in the police drama series Law & Order: UK from 2009 to 2014.

For four years, from 2018 to 2022, actor Graham O’Brien starred in the BBC series Doctor Who, and in 2016, Bradley’s debut album Chasing Dreams reached number 10 in the UK charts.

Before Bradley became famous on television, he had a very different career, but was still seen by thousands.

Bradley was previously a professional footballer.

The television star began his youth football career with Wormley Rovers and turned professional at the age of 18.

At the end of 1979 Bradley signed for Brentford and also played on loan for Barnet, making five appearances in the Southern Football League during the 1979/80 season.

He also played for Tring Town, Boreham Wood and Chalfont St Peter.

However, Bradley’s football career was cut short when he broke both ankles in quick succession in 1982 at the age of 22.

In 2012, the TV star told Sky Sports: “I’ve done some fantastic things in my life and had some fantastic jobs, but football was my life.”

“When I got injured it was a real shame. I had broken an ankle and was recovering. I was due to play against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and I broke my other ankle.

“A lot of my friends are still playing or involved, people like Wally Downes, Paul Walsh and Clive Allen and all those guys, and I still know them all.”
