Brady Bunch’s home renovated by HGTV and put on the market for $5.5 million

The home from the popular series The Brady Bunch is back on the market, five years after HGTV bought the home and renovated it with retro authenticity.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HGTV placed a $3.5 million bid for the Studio City, California property in 2018, doubling the asking price.

Created by Sherwood Schwartz, the series initially ran for 117 episodes from 1969 to 1974 and spawned a number of spin-offs, films and specials.

It starred the late Robert Reed and Florence Henderson as parents Mike and Carol Brady, the late Ann B. Davis as maid Alice, and Carol’s daughters Marcia, Jan and Cindy (Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Susan Olsen) and Mike’s sons Greg. Peter and Bobby (Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland).

After the purchase, HGTV performed a core renovation of the mid-century home, restoring the interior and exterior of the home as featured on the popular TV series that had been in syndication for decades.

The broadcaster, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has upgraded the home significantly and also added a second floor.

The second level is an exact replica of what was seen in the series, including the living room and bedrooms since the scenes in the latter areas were filmed at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

HGTV broadcast the home renovation on a 2019 special, “A Very Brady Renovation,” which the channel said garnered strong ratings and an estimated 28 million viewers in four weeks.

The TV network invested $1.9 million in the remodel, renovating the home’s signature floating staircase and retro kitchen and adding another 2,000 square feet to the property, THR reported.

The network has featured the 11222 Dilling Street property on specials and on Discovery+’s reality series Trixie Motel.

HGTV will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales to Turn Up: Fight Hunger, a collaboration with the charity No Kid Hungry, which aims to end child hunger in the United States

The 2018 sale of the home marked the first time it had come on the market in 45 years, as it was last purchased in 1973, according to the report.

The home first went on the market for a price of $1.85 million, with NSYNC singer Lance Bass among those bidding, while HGTV reigned supreme in the real estate showdown.

Some of the memorabilia in the house included with the purchase include a green floral-patterned couch that featured in the living room and a horse sculpture from the show that was 3D printed to replicate.
