Emma was joined on the red carpet by her co-stars Mark Ruffalo, 56, and Willem Dafoe, 68, who both wore stylish suits.

The actress's sensational role as the uninhibited Bella Baxter in “Poor Things”, for which she has already been nominated for a Golden Globe, makes her the favorite to win Best Actress for the second time after “La La Land” in 2017.

Yargos Lanthimos, who co-directed “The Favourite” with Olivia Colman, is also expected to be nominated for his wildly original film.

The picture contains over a dozen explicit sex scenes and lots of swear words.

A whisper campaign against “Poor Things” began shortly after its release at the festival circuit, with some saying the use of the word “retarded” early in the film was problematic.

Likewise, Stone's portrayal of Bella in the early stages after her brain is swapped with that of her unborn baby.

The actress' next competitor for the Oscar for best actress will likely be Annette Bening (65), whose new film Nyad also premiered in Telluride.

The film tells the story of marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, who swam from Cuba to Florida at the age of 64. Bening, nominated for an Oscar four times but never a winner, would be a sentimental favorite.
