Brandon Palacios: the young man making it out of the shadow of historic “Chorrillano” in Binacional

Brandon Palacios He’s no longer old enough to be called a youth player, but he still has many seasons ahead of him to continue fulfilling his potential. As always in cases like this, comparisons with his father Roberto Palacios and the designation “son of Chorri” are inevitable. Despite this, Brandon has shown good performance and consistency lately. In the bi-national vs. most recently, the young winger demonstrated his speed, dribbling and long-range ability at Sporting Cristal.

More than three years have passed since Brandon Palacios left Sporting Cristal, the club he is a supporter of and where he was born a footballer. The “Chorri” regretted at the time that his son couldn’t continue in the beer team, but he should be calmer as he could start to have continuity after his departure from Cusco FC at the end of 2021. For this reason it is worth highlighting the good work that is being done quietly.

Who is Brandon Palacios?

Brandon Roberto Palacios Bustamante was born on March 26, 1998 in Guadalajara, Mexico. His father was playing for Tecos FC in Aztec country at the time, which is why Brandon acquired Mexican citizenship. The first time he made a public appearance was in 2012 when he played with “Chorri” at the Chorri night held at the Nacional to bid farewell to the heavenly idol. He made smaller divisions at Cristal, progressed through the reserves and reached the first team in 2018.

However, he only appeared on the list a few times and couldn’t add minutes. Brandon Palacios made his professional debut on November 12, 2018 wearing a UTC jersey in the 2-1 defeat by Universitario on the second day of the Clausura. Palacios took turns at the ‘Gavilán’ but played 10 of 14 games and scored his first goal as a professional on Matchday 5 against Binacional. In 2019 he was loaned to San Martín where he established himself as a starter in the Apertura.

Brandon Palacios, his departure from Sporting Cristal and the promotion

After his good performances in San Martín, Brandon Palacios returned to Cristal for the Clausura. Unfortunately he only managed 79 minutes in five games, but in that short time he scored the great number of two goals. By 2020, he was a reinforcement for Cusco FC – already on a free transfer – but played very little and scored only one goal. The beginning of Palacios’ rise in career began with his signing of Carlos Stein in 2021 to play in Liga 2.

This season, Palacios became by far the best signing and also the best player in the team. He was the second goalscorer after “Tanque” Freitas, was instrumental in several goals and was the author of the second goal in the game that earned Stein the right to play for promotion with Binacional. In addition to his natural position as a winger, he also had the ability to play as a second striker and winger.

When he returned to the 1st division, Palacios was not always a regular player in the Apertura, but played almost all games. He was undisputed in the Clausura, but Stein’s collective decline overshadowed his achievements. However, few fans – both Stein and Cristal – will forget their great game at the Gallardo as Brandon scored two great goals for the team he loved. Today, he always plays in the Binacional and, above all, has adapted to a changed profile.
