Two Brazilian ice cream parlors stood out at the World Gelato Festival, a sort of ice cream world championship held in Rome, Italy on Thursday (14th) where they were included in the list of the 50 best ice creams in the world.
According to the list published by the organization of the event, Sorveteria Cairu from Belém do Pará is the best ranked in Brazil, taking 32nd place in the ranking, highlighting the country’s “golden” ice cream maker, Armando José Laiun Filho.
Cairu’s exceptional work has already been recognized as the best in Brazil nine times, once in a previous edition of the same award and a further eight times in judging various competitions.
And it lives up to the title by honoring national ingredients and flavors on its menu.
One example is the awardwinning Carimbó ice cream, a mix of cupuaçu and brazil nut candy, named after a typical indigenous dance of the region.
There is also another standout dish called Paraense, which uses açaí and tapioca flour.
