Brazil: Jair Bolsonaro hospitalized with ‘stomach problems’

Occlusions, sub-occlusions or intestinal adhesions… Jair Bolsonaro has been hospitalized half a dozen times since the end of 2018 and has undergone six re-operations. The former Brazilian president is being treated again for “stomach problems,” his wife announced Monday. However, in her message on Instagram, Michelle Bolsonaro did not name the location of her husband’s hospitalization, who left Brazil two days before his mandate ended on December 31.

Several Brazilian media outlets had previously announced that the ex-president had been hospitalized the day after a violent attack by his supporters on the presidential palace, Congress and the Supreme Court of Brasilia. for which he refuses any responsibility. The daily newspaper O Globo reported that he had been taken to the Advent Health Celebration hospital because of “severe abdominal pain”.

Bolsonaro, 67, is suffering serious consequences from the stabbing that almost took his life in September 2018 just before he was elected president. The former far-right leader left Brazil without attending the inauguration ceremony of his left-wing successor Lula on January 1 to visit the Orlando home of a former martial arts champion, Jose Aldo.
