BRASILIA, 20th April (RHC) Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced this Tuesday that on May 7th he will launch his candidacy for the country’s presidency within the Labor Party (PT).

Da Silva explained on his official Twitter account that he foresees that next October’s election will be “a polarizing election” but people should not fear as this trend has always existed.

“I am used to taking part in elections. I am neither pleased nor saddened by the investigation. I think we have a good record of governments. I will start my candidacy on May 7th and then I want to visit Brazil,” the former president tweeted.

“I don’t want to stay live (on digital platforms), I want to travel around Brazil, I want to hug, I want to kiss, I want to greet the people of every Brazilian state because there’s this chemical bond, the relationship between people who do the will make people decide who to vote for in October,” he said.

According to various polls, before the presidential elections next October, Lula da Silva has around 43.3 percent of the voting intention. (Telesur)
