At a fair in northern Brazil, two girls, ages 11 and 13, fell from a Ferris wheel after the ride malfunctioned on Tuesday, October 31.
As visitors to the Rio Preta da Eva amusement park in northern Brazil celebrated Halloween on Tuesday, October 31, fear followed euphoria. Two young girls, ages 11 and 13, fell off a Ferris wheel. A safety lock on the seat the two friends were in unlocked, causing the basket to tip over, journalists told the Chron.
The eldest teenager fell into the void and managed an impressive fall of around six meters. The 11-year-old girl, for her part, managed to hold on to the seat of the ride. Filmed by certain people who had visited the amusement park, in a video posted on TikTok we see him hanging in the air with his arms on the seat of the ride while the wheel continues to rotate. She can be seen letting go in exhaustion, hitting a metal structure as she fell, to the screams of people watching her, not knowing what to do.

“We did about five laps and then I realized something was wrong. Then I saw my daughter hanging in the air. Then when I looked again, she fell,” said the 13-year-old’s father, Raimundo Claudinei, who was sitting next to his younger daughter in another seat on the ride when the incident occurred. “When I held my seven-year-old daughter in my arms, I didn’t know what to do,” he desperately confessed to our colleagues.
Teenage girls are no longer in danger
After the two young girls fell, rescuers gave them first aid on site. They were then taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a facility in Manaus, a city in northwestern Brazil.
The Rio Preta da Eva amusement park has been closed by authorities since the incident.
If the younger of the two girls had already left the hospital, the 13-year-old would still be bedridden. His pelvis would have been affected in his fall. Her family told the Chron that she was still waiting for the exams but her life was not in danger. Raimundo Claudinei, her father, explained that he was waiting for his daughter to “come home” to take the necessary action with the relevant authorities, namely to take legal action against the amusement park.
