(Quebec) The origin of the computer failure that paralyzed the GP appointment platform for a few hours on Monday is the use of a “temporary version” and free of authentication software, Christian Dubé admitted.

It was impossible for Quebecers to access the Rendez-vous santé Québec platform – the main gateway to see a family doctor – for four hours on Monday.
The cause of the problem is Google’s CAPTCHA authentication software, which makes it possible to determine that there is actually a human and not a robot behind the request. This is the step where you will be asked to tick the boxes with traffic lights or stairs, for example. However, the capacity of the free version, which is one million attempts per month, would be reached, 98.5 FM reported on Tuesday.
While the Legault government is still being criticized at SAAQ for failing in its digital transformation, the Quebec Liberal Party has responded to the use of a free version of software on a platform as important as that for booking a doctor’s appointment.
“The maximum number of requests per month in the free version was reached, so the system crashed. They heard the government used the free version with the bare essentials to access the site instead of properly subscribing,” Liberal MP Michelle Setlakwe freely incited against Minister Christian Dubé.
“Can the Minister of Health reassure Quebecers that he paid for his subscription? And what will he do to avoid further service outages? added the MNA for Mont-Royal–Outremont.
“I think we have big health problems. “I think that’s already settled,” Christian Dubé replied in the Blue Salon, adding that the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) would “accept.” [les] things in hand”.
Unfortunately a temporary version was used and we will correct the situation. Thank you for pointing this out. We have already taken care of that.
Christian Dubé, Minister of Health
The RAMQ had not yet answered our questions at the time this article was published. The outage happened on Monday between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The system has been operational ever since.
