The Trump Organization has been found guilty of fraud in a criminal case in Manhattan.
The company was found guilty of all charges after facing a string of tax fraud charges.
Trump’s company has been accused of running a 15-year criminal scheme to defraud tax authorities.
The program involved paying personal expenses like free rent and car leases for top executives, including former chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg, without reporting income and paying bonuses as if they were independent contractors, prosecutors said.
Weisselberg testified for the prosecution but did not want to personally incriminate Trump.
Trump himself railed against prosecutors as another part of a wide-ranging “witch hunt” against him, claiming he had double standards because he was charged with “ancillary services.”
The ruling came after indictments against two different companies last year: Trump Corporation and Trump Payroll Corporation.
Weisselberg himself pleaded guilty to accepting free rental and use of a car and even private school fees for family members under the scheme.
Trump himself faces no criminal liability in the matter — although he faces a separate civil lawsuit brought by New York AG Letitia James, who is suing the company and family members for $250 million.
The ruling comes a day after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced a high-profile hire to his office after his team reportedly took a second look at the years-old case involving porn star Stormy Daniels, who received hush payments and claims she was having an affair with Trump. Trump denies the affair.
