BREAKING: The Texas A&M Aggies are reportedly parting ways with head coach Jimbo Fisher – Good Bull Hunting

Jimbo Fisher undoubtedly had a disappointing season at Texas A&M in recent years, but many thought his massive buyout of over $75 million would keep him in Aggieland for at least one more season. But according to Billy Liucci of TexAgs, A&M appears ready to put an end to the Fisher era.

It’s admittedly strange that this news comes less than a day after the Aggies had what was easily their best performance of the season in a 51-10 win over Mississippi State, but the decision was clearly made before (and changes to) this game nothing happens). the performance deficiencies that occurred during his tenure in College Station.

If this is indeed the case for Fisher, he ends his tenure with a 45-25 record at A&M (a winning percentage of .642). The unfortunate thing is that while Fisher’s first three years earned him a .722 winning percentage (.680 in SEC play) and that big contract extension, he only posted a .558 winning percentage (.434 in SEC play) in his final three years. Given the talent on this A&M roster and the resources A&M has put into this program, that’s just not good enough. One can argue that Jimbo was a victim of his own success (in terms of recruiting), but he wasn’t brought here and paid all that money to go 8-4 (or worse). Even he would admit that.

Regarding this acquisition: Even though it’s a huge total amount, the Aggies’ upfront success isn’t as amazing as you might think. Fisher will be due 20% of the buyout within 30 days (approximately $19.2 million) and will then receive the remainder of the buyout annually for the next eight years ($7.2 million per year).

The next step will of course be finding a replacement, but that’s for another article. But either way, it appears changes are coming to Aggieland for the 2024 football season.
