BREAKING: Transfer portal RB Quinshon Judkins commits to Ohio State – 247Sports

The Buckeyes had a 2024 recruiting class that included two running backs Sam Williams Dixonwho prefers running back but is a versatile player who plays running back and can line up in the slot.

However, Jordan Lyle from Fort Lauderdale (Florida) St. Thomas Aquinas was released from Ohio State late in the process and signed with Miami. In the end, the Buckeyes signed James Peoples and Williams Dixon.

But with Miyan Williams Farewell to the NFL, Chip Trayanum Leaving the state of Ohio for Kentucky and TreVeyon Henderson Since he has not yet made an announcement about whether he will return to play at Ohio State University next season or enter the NFL Draft, the Buckeyes' running back room could be tight, although that is also the case Dallan Hayden.

But head coach Ryan DayOhio State running backs coach Tony Alford and General Manager – Player Personnel Mark Pantoni and with the addition of the former Ole Miss star, the staff now has a major running back addition to the program Quinshon Judkins, who took an official visit to Ohio State over the weekend, as posted on Bucknuts on Sunday. Today, Judkins announced that he has committed to the Buckeyes.

“I’m definitely very excited,” Judkins told Bucknuts. “I'm happy to be here.”

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Judkins, who played his high school football for Pine Road High School in Pine Road, Alabama, is coming off two big seasons at Ole Miss. This season, Judkins was a first-team All-SEC member as he rushed for 1,158 yards on 271 carries, averaging 4.3 yards per carry and 15 touchdowns. He also caught 22 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

In the 2022 season, Judkins was named SEC Freshman of the Year with 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Other schools considered by some as possible destinations for Judkins included Florida, Texas, Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Kentucky.

Judkins was a 3-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite coming out of high school. He was the No. 46 running back in the country and the No. 25 prospect in Alabama. He committed to Ole Miss over scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, Arkansas, Tennessee and others.

Judkins is the fourth transfer portal player to choose Ohio State. He joins the quarterback Will Howardwho previously played at Kansas State and is 1.90 meters tall and 111 kilograms, is a tight end Will Kacmarekwho previously played at Ohio University and is 1.90 meters tall and 110 kilograms, and center Seth McLaughlinwho was the starting player for Alabama for almost two full seasons.

The Buckeyes aren't known for getting big numbers through the transfer portal, but they will sign talented players when they have a need, and they've done that again with Judkins.

This does not automatically mean that Henderson is leaving Ohio State to enter the NFL Draft. I could imagine a scenario where both Henderson and Junkins are at Ohio State. I'm not saying it's happening, but I could imagine a scenario where it could happen. What it definitely means is that the Buckeyes have added another great transfer portal player to the program.
