Helene Fischer disappeared from the scene for a few months. The new mother enjoys time with her little family. In her first show after giving birth, the native Russian is now “insanely emotional” and sends a signal of solidarity.
Russian-born singer Helene Fischer expressed herself at her first concert after a long, visibly emotional break about the war of aggression in Ukraine. “It breaks my heart to see this,” said Fischer at the “Snowpenair” festival in Grindelwald, Switzerland.
“Every day the images of families torn apart; of fathers, brothers, soldiers, husbands who have to die. Of women who have to flee.” On her top, the 37-year-old singer wore a small bow in Ukraine’s national colors – blue and yellow, and the stage was also lit up in colors, as can be seen in a video that was made available to the German Press Agency.
“In my acute situation, it takes me even further. I’m incredibly emotional right now, built very close to the water,” she continued. “I just want to send a signal of solidarity.”
“I just want to send a sign of solidarity”
After media reports of a pregnancy last fall, a new album and a few TV appearances, she disappeared from the scene for several months. On Sunday, a reporter from “Bild” congratulated her – “on the baby”. Fischer’s response to the congratulations: “I’m not in shape yet. It takes time. Everyone who has just become a mother knows that.”
On her top, the 37-year-old actress wore a small bow in the national colors of Ukraine – blue and yellow, and the stage was also lit up with colors. “I just want to send a sign of solidarity,” Fischer told fans onstage. It was her first major appearance in years, aside from a few TV campaigns, for example in November in the “Wetten, dass..?” revival.
“Deeply despise what is happening”
After a big tour in 2018, Fischer retired – first for a creative break, then because of the corona pandemic. First of all, it will remain rare: in Germany, for now, only one appearance is planned for this year. On August 20, the singer wants to be on stage in front of around 150,000 fans at the Munich Exhibition Center. She announced a tour for 2023.
Fischer was born in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, in 1984, but came to Germany with his family as a child. Many fans therefore eagerly awaited if and how she would comment on the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. On Sunday, the 37-year-old now finds clear words: “I deeply despise what is happening and especially this person. I think you know who I’m talking about. This man who has a lot of power.” Maybe the fans wanted to give back after this beautiful day together and make a small contribution and donate or help, Fischer said to the audience’s applause. She then sang the Marius Müller-Westernhagen hit “Freiheit”.
