Brianna Ghey's killers appointed judge to overturn court order – GB News

Brianna Ghey's two teenage killers are set to be named and photographed after a judge confirmed that a court order protecting their identities will be lifted at sentencing in February.

The two 16-year-olds, currently known to the media as Girl X and Boy Y, were found guilty of murdering Ghey in a wild knife attack in a public park.

Judge Yip confirmed today that the court order will be overturned at sentencing on February 2 due to the seriousness of their crimes.

The court order was first imposed during her appearance at Liverpool Crown Court last February and is based on Section 45 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999. It prevents the media from publishing any details that could lead to the identification of the defendants.

The girl was only 15 years old at the time

The court heard she was lured to Linear Park in Culcheth, near Warrington, on the afternoon of February 11 before being killed.

Both teenagers denied murder during their trial and blamed each other for the killing, which investigators described as “horrific.”
