Netflix announced the cast of its spin-off limited series Bridgerton, which focuses on a young Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, including franchise stars Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell. The trio will reprise the roles that made them popular in the original series: Queen Charlotte, Lady Agatha Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton respectively.

Written by Shonda Rhimes, the prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and societal change, creating the world of clay that was inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.

India Amarteifio (Line of Duty) plays young Queen Charlotte: Engaged against her will to the mysterious King of England, Charlotte arrives in London only to find she wasn’t exactly what the royals expected. Michelle Fairley (Gangs of London) plays Princess Augusta: determined to preserve her family’s power, the dowager princess will do whatever it takes to secure her son’s place as monarch in the midst of a changing, modernizing Britain.

Corey Mylchreest (Sandman) plays young King George: Handsome, charismatic and a bit mysterious, George has always bowed to the limitations imposed on him as a crown. Until now. Having to share his space and bed with his new wife forces George to confront his hidden demons head-on.
Arsema Thomas (television debut) plays young Agatha Danbury: under the tutelage of her much older husband, Agatha uses Charlotte’s arrival to carve her own way into society. With a keen knowledge of the once-divided society scene and the intricacies of marriage, Agatha becomes a guide for the new queen, while also finding her own voice and power, which we will soon recognize as Bridgerton’s iconic Lady Danbury.
Rounding out the cast are Sam Clemmett (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – West End and Broadway) as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher) as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualty) as The Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri (Cucumber) plays Lord Danbury, Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton Seasons 1 & 2) plays Brimsley (older).
Rhimes will also serve as showrunner and executive producer of the prequel spinoff series; Tom Verica as director and executive producer; and Betsy Beers as executive producer.
