Brie Larson collapsed while meeting Jennifer Lopez at the Golden Globes
At a star-studded event like the Golden Globes, it's no surprise that a ton of celebrities finally get the chance to meet their heroes. Although it's not often that these adorable interactions are caught on camera for the world to see.
While speaking to the outlet, Brie — a literal Oscar winner herself — made no secret of her excitement at being in the presence of Hollywood royalty.
“It is the opportunity of a lifetime. You're just surrounded by legends as far as you can see,” she enthused. “I mean, I was just standing there and Oprah walked past me.”
And while she tried to remember that she's “not in a dream,” Brie was suddenly stopped in her tracks when she noticed a certain superstar standing right behind her.
“Oh my God,” she said, turning around and closing her eyes in awe. “I'm going to cry. I can't handle J.Lo.”
Despondent and starstruck, Brie explained that Jennifer was the person who first inspired her to act, and as she tried to calm herself down, it became clear that her idol was on his way to her.
Finally, Brie nervously introduced herself to the singer and tearfully told her, “You mean so much to me.”
Jennifer returned the compliment by saying she was a “huge fan,” and Brie finally got the chance to express her appreciation for the icon as they held hands on the red carpet.
“I saw Selena and it made me want to be an actress. And you've always meant so much to me,” she said of Jennifer's 1997 film, adding that it has been a lifelong “dream” to express her gratitude in person.
“Your work ethic is so important,” Brie continued. “Thank you very much. I've been wanting to tell you this for a long time, so I really – I didn't think it would be like this. OK. I need to treat myself to a tequila or something.”
Jennifer was visibly touched by the candid confession and thanked Brie profusely before joking that she had also just taken a shot to calm her nerves.
After Brie left, Jennifer processed the sweet moment, telling ET, “It's amazing. She brought up the movie Selena, which still resonates with people many years later. It’s very moving for me too.”
“What I remember is watching West Side Story as a little girl and how Rita Moreno changed my life,” she added, reflecting on her own inspirations. “And when someone says to me, 'I saw Selena and it made me want to be an actress,' it's so moving.”
