Every time I receive a guest in my house, I feel a certain excitement. I hadn’t met Brigitte for a few years, but I follow her with interest and find her extraordinary. A woman of heart and a stage beast, she approaches her often light but sometimes very dark background with great confidence and determination. Like an open book, she confides.

She will never forget the night a violent man kidnapped her and told her: “You’ll see, this will be your party.” She kept that to herself for a long time and now she gives herself up with a song. Today she talks to me about it with a disarming calm…
“I called this song Ma fight. I co-wrote it with King Melrose. I tell what happened and the images are very clear, like in a movie. This piece, I was ready to take it on, write it, share it. Violence comes in all kinds of ways; it’s sneaky and sometimes brutal.”
“It’s been a long road since then and it’s been very difficult. I wasn’t the same woman after going through that. Fear followed me everywhere… Today I am much stronger than I used to be, but I had to take the time I needed. I have singer friends who have spoken over the past few years and I thought they were so brave! I couldn’t say it out loud so I decided to write it down.
