‘What she said about her was so bad’: BRIT Awards viewers are stunned after ITV failed to censor Daisy May Cooper’s bizarre joke about the Sugababes ‘DOING NOT do coke’.
The Sugababes were the focus of a bizarre cocaine joke at this year’s BRIT Awards.
Actress and comedian Daisy May Cooper, 36, pulled off the gag while presenting The 1975 with the Best Alternative Rock award at the 2023 ceremony at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night.
Though the Sugababes weren’t nominated in any category, Daisy, wearing a tiny black leather mini dress, said, “God, we used to go to the bathroom and see the Sugababes.
“And they didn’t do coke — they were lovely.”
Daisy’s mic crackled just as she said the words, but the joke was not edited out of BRIT coverage.

The Sugababes previously walked the red carpet with other famous faces, with Mutya Buena, 37, wearing a black slip dress that showed off her leg tattoos.
Her bandmate Keisha Buchanan, 38, wore no bra in an oversized grey-and-white striped suit, while Siobhán Donaghy, also 38, wore a purple suit.
Daisy presented the award alongside actress Selin Hizli, 34, with whom she co-starred on her friendship and stalking sitcom Am I Being Unreasonable.
Viewers seemed to find the moment hilarious and shared their thoughts on Twitter. One wrote: “Daisy May Cooper says she met the sugababes in the toilets and they WERE NOT coke is quality tv.”
Another said: “Thoughts and prayers to the audio muted team who didn’t mute Daisy talking about the sugababes in the toilets.”
But a third disagreed: “Daisy lol I usually love her… find her so funny but what she said about the sugababes was so bad.”
Meanwhile, BRIT’s presenter Mo Gilligan apologized for calling Lewis Capaldi by the wrong name before the singer performed his ballad ‘Forget Me’.

The Scottish singer, 26, was getting ready to perform at the awards when host Mo Gilligan introduced him as Sam Capaldi.
However, he was quick to apologize afterwards, joking it was a testament to how strong the drinks are at the BRITs.
Mo said: “It just goes to show how strong the drinks are at the Brits. They don’t play around.’
Lewis wasted no time in coming up with a funny response and shared it on Twitter.

He photographed his head on Sam’s distinctive red carpet ensemble and turned it into Sam Capaldi.
Sam walked the red carpet in a quirky, balloon-like latex outfit by designer Harri.
The outfit featured a high neckline, balloon-like sleeves and inflatable-looking legs, and a zip-fly design across the chest.
Lewis performed a stunning rendition of his hit single Forget Me while playing guitar on a flight of stairs.
