British actor Russell Brand is accused of sexual assault

British actor and comedian Russell Brand, 48, was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by multiple women over a sevenyear period, according to an investigation released on Saturday, September 16. Four women reported sexual assault between 2006 and 2013. Brand was at the height of his fame, working as a presenter for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 and as an actor in films Hollywood. The allegations, which Brand denies, were made as part of a joint investigation by The Sunday Times and The Times newspapers and the Channel 4 Dispatches television program.

In a video published on Friday, Brand spoke out and rejected the “very serious criminal allegations” against him. A woman claimed Brand raped her in her Los Angeles home. Another alleged victim said he sexually assaulted her during a threemonth relationship when she was 16 and in school. Internationally known for his previous relationship with the pop star Katy PerryBrand began his career as a comedian in the early 2000s. In 2004, he began hosting the show Big Brother’s Big Mouth, where he remained for three years. Brand also played rock star “Aldous Snow” in the film “The Hangover” (2008) and appeared in the sequel “The Worst Job in the World” (2010).
