British Prime Minister Boris Johnson traveled unannounced to Kiev and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy there. The announcement was made today by both the British and Ukrainian sides.
“The prime minister traveled to Ukraine to meet President Zelensky personally as a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people,” a British government spokesman said. The two wanted to discuss Britain’s long-term support for Ukraine. Johnson wants to present a new package of financial and military aid.

During a visit by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz yesterday, the British Prime Minister announced that he would send more weapons worth £100m (equivalent to around €120m) to Ukraine. Among them were the Starstreak surface-to-air missiles.
The British Embassy in Kiev and British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss also posted a photo of Johnson and Zelenskyy on Twitter. Zelenskyy called Britain a “leader in defense support of Ukraine”.
