A 21-year-old member of the British Army was put on trial in London on Saturday, charged with planting a fake bomb at an airbase and committing a terrorist crime.
Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, was arraigned on Friday at a Royal Air Force base in Strafford, central England, with charges dating back to January and August 2021.
He was produced in Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday and accused of obtaining or attempting to obtain information “about a person who was or was a member of the British Army”, “likely to serve a person who is committing or preparing an act of terrorism, Information to be received August 2021.
He is also charged with making a false bomb threat because he died on March 2.
He is accused of having placed “three cans with wires” on the base.
During Saturday’s hearing, he merely confirmed his identity before being held in custody until the next hearing on February 3.
