Britney Spears announces she is writing a book

Over a month after it was announced she would be writing a report, Britney Spears has officially confirmed that she is writing a book.

Spears, 40, announced her book plans Monday in a lengthy Instagram post, in which she described writing the project as “healing and therapeutic.”

In February, Page Six reported that Spears was writing a memoir after signing a book deal said to be worth up to $15 million.

Spears revealed her big book news in a post in which she slammed her sister Jamie Lynn Spears and mother Lynne Spears for writing their own memoir.

“I want to address my last post labeling my past… as I understand it is confusing for most…why express now??? Well I’m writing a book right now and since it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it’s also hard to bring up past events in my life… I’ve never been able to express myself openly!!!’

Britney also said she would follow her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s “intellectual approach” when he apologized to her and Janet Jackson last year.

“I can only imagine sounding childish, but I was extremely young when these events took place… and addressing it now… I’m sure it will seem irrelevant to most and I’m perfectly aware of it!!! But instead of using my head…I use the intellectual approach, as Justin did so respectfully when he apologized to Janet and I…even though he was never bullied or threatened by his family…he jumped at the opportunity to apologize 20 years later !!!

‘Timing is everything!!! Good timing is the B*TCH!!! Anyway…I wanted to let people know I care!!! AND IT DOES ME SO DOES!!! My mom and sister also took the “intellectual approach” out of indulgence by writing their own books as I couldn’t even get a cup of coffee or drive my car or really anything!!!

“I’m not the type to bring up AWESOME CONVERSATION well because it’s just NOT RESPECTABLE… but come on, LET’S ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT IT!!!”

In the lengthy post, Spears compared the team that ran her conservatory — including her father, Jamie Spears, who was at the forefront of the arrangement — to a “cult.”

“As I got older the head powers in my Conservatory were literally amazing… Yes the security, the management and most importantly my father who was NEVER AVAILABLE all felt like a CULT!!! I see now the greed and envy of men and the damage that rulers can do!!!’

She also shared several incidents that made her feel powerless, including a trip to Target during the pandemic.

Britney drove an hour to the store but was told by her father and “a lady” to stay in the car when her security got in instead.

“When I was in Louisiana during COVID-19, I went to Target to pick up things at the store…I live in the Sticks so it was an hour’s drive!!! When I finally got there I was told by a lady and my father that I could not get out of the car…my security got out of the car and I WAITED!!!! Hundreds of children and adults go in !!! I’ve never felt like nothing in my life… of course now they say they never did that because they forgot!!!’

In another instance, three of Britney’s childhood friends visited her while she was in Las Vegas.

Britney says her friends went to the spa, but since she wasn’t allowed in, she had to wait outside for an hour while they treated themselves to manicures, pedicures and a bottle of champagne.

“They all go to a spa and I wait an hour while they get their nails and toes done and they’re offered champagne … I wasn’t allowed to go to the spa so I sat outside and waited … not only do they not even look my way or recognize me or show concern…they drank the whole bottle!!!’

Britney’s fiancé Sam Asghari showed his support for the book in the comment section of the post.

“I’ll buy the first copy,” he commented, along with a praising hand, flame, and heart emoji.

Page Six reported in February that Spears had landed a landmark deal with publishers Simon & Schuster for a memoir about her life, career and family.

The deal came about after several publishers got involved in a bidding war for the book.

A source told the site, “The deal is one of the biggest ever, behind the Obamas.”

Barack Obama and his wife Michelle sold the rights to their memoir for an advance reportedly as high as $65 million in 2017.

Britney signaled the all-clear in January after posting a photo of a typewriter next to a bunch of pink roses.

‘Shall I start over???’ She captioned the sepia colored image.

News of the deal comes after the release of Britney’s younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears’ controversial memoir Things I Should Have Said, which contained shocking claims about the Stronger singer.

Jamie Lynn claimed her older sister once locked them both in a room with a knife and once described their behavior as “erratic, paranoid and spiraling”.

Britney categorically denied the knife story and retaliated by calling her sister a “scumbag” for telling “crazy lies” about her.

As the bad blood simmered between them, Britney also took to social media to express her regret that she hadn’t “slapped you and mom right in your f***ing faces!!!!!”

In the week following the book’s publication, Britney’s attorney, Jamie Lynn, sent a cease and desist letter over the “misleading or outrageous claims” in the book.

Britney’s mother, Lynne, has also published three books, including the memoir Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Boulevard World. Her other two books were co-written by Britney – Britney Spears’ Heart to Heart and the novel A Mother’s Gift.

Jamie Lynn’s book came just months after Britney was finally released from her controversial conservatory after 13 years.

In the past year, she first succeeded in deposing her father Jamie as conservator and then dismissing her conservatorship altogether.

Since her release, Britney has waged a public war of words against her family over the way she claims she was treated while at the conservatory.

“Lord have mercy on the soul of my family if I ever give an interview,” she posted on Instagram last year.
