Britney Spears’ pregnancy should have happened sooner

Sam Asghari believes fiancee Britney Spears’ third pregnancy should have happened much earlier.

“Yes, I mean, that should have happened three years ago, to be honest,” the actor said in an interview with BBC Persian, before the singer announced her pregnancy on Monday.

“When you’re in a relationship with someone you’re really in love with, you want to recreate them,” Asghari continued. “And that’s something I want to do.”

The pop superstar, 40, shocked fans on Monday afternoon by announcing on Instagram: “So I took a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh… I’m having a baby.”

Asghari, 28, later confirmed the happy news in a post of her own.

“Marriage and children are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect,” he captioned a picture of a lion, lioness and their cub. “Fatherhood is something I’ve always looked forward to and don’t take lightly. It’s the most important job I’ll ever do.”

The parents-to-be met in 2016 when Asghari played Spears’ love interest in her “Slumber Party” music video. The Grammy winner accepted a proposal from the personal trainer-turned-model in September 2021 after nearly five years together.

Asghari stood by Spears as she struggled to end her nearly 14-year conservatorship, which eventually ended in November 2021.

“I can only speak for my reaction and it was phenomenal to see how everyone was so supportive and the whole world was involved in some way,” he told BBC Persian of the global support Spears received during her legal battle.

“I think people relate and it connects people in a way, you know, in terms of all these divisions that we have and not just in this country but globally,” he continued. “But I think people also like to unify in a way.”

The singer, who shares sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline, previously claimed that her estranged father and former conservator, Jamie Spears, prevented her from having another child, by forcing her to have an IUD contraceptive used against her will.

After being freed from the protracted legal battle, Britney told her fans on Instagram: “I’m thinking about having another baby!!! I’m wondering if this is a girl…she’s on her toes and reaching for something…that’s for sure!!!!⁣”
