Britney Spears reacts to Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera’s Us Weekly cover

Britney Spears used part of her The Woman in Me memoir to respond Justin Timberlake And Christina Aguilerais the predominantly “positive” press of the 2000s.

A source confirms to Us Weekly that Spears, 41, is even writing about Timberlake and Aguilera’s joint cover of Rolling Stone. Spears remembers seeing the pictures — in which Timberlake looked at Aguilera, both now 42, with “sexy eyes” — and reading the cover story.

Timberlake and Aguilera – who appeared with Spears in “All New Mickey Mouse Club” – teamed up for the June 2003 issue of Rolling Stone ahead of their tour together. Aguilera called Spears, who split from Timberlake the year before following reports of infidelity, his “ideal partner.”

“He and Britney were a great couple. I’ve known them both since then [Mickey Mouse Club], and they had a bit of a crush even back then,” Aguilera told the outlet. “Britney has known him for so long, too – before he was Justin Timberlake, the star, when he was just Justin, the boy in the Mickey Mouse Club. I don’t know, I have a feeling there will be a reconciliation. I know they talk and everything and it’s cool. I don’t think it’s over.”

While Timberlake did not respond to Aguilera’s requests for a reconciliation with Spears, he did respond to rumors that he was dating Aguilera. “There were rumors that we had a romance but that is so far fetched. “We’re two people who are just very platonic,” he joked at the time. “You know, I can’t say we’re best friends, we don’t hang out all the time, but that’s more or less because of what we do and the schedule is so crazy.”

According to the insider, Spears reveals on “The Woman in Me” that she found Aguilera’s comments “confusing.”

The pop stars were often compared and feuded in the media in the 90s and early 2000s.

“Every time I tried to start a conversation with her – let’s just say she seemed nervous the whole time,” Aguilera told Blender magazine back in 2004 about reuniting with Spears during rehearsals for MTV Video Music Awards. “She seems like a lost little girl to me, someone who [desperately] needs leadership.”

Spears dismissed Aguilera’s report during her own interview with Blender this year: “When someone has been rude to you so many times, you think, ‘You know what, Christina, I’m really not about the fakery anymore,'” said she, she remarked,[couldn’t] believe]what Aguilera revealed in her cover story.

Spears and Aguilera have since publicly buried the hatchet, with Aguilera even supporting the #FreeBritney movement.

“I would like to [speak to Britney]”I would always be open to that,” Aguilera said during an appearance on The Enrique Santos Show in January 2022, after Spears’ 13-year conservatorship ended the previous June. “It’s a topic I definitely want to be careful with because I never want to speak out of turn about someone I have so much respect and admiration for. But I’m so happy [for her].”

Recently, Aguilera wished Spears well during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month. “I hope that everything is going well for her and that everything is beautiful. The future should be celebrated,” she said.

Timberlake also hasn’t publicly responded to Spears’ book bombshells, although a source told Us he’s “trying to distance himself” from the memoir. “Justin and Britney were together so long ago and he has a very different life now,” the insider said. “He is focused on his family, his career and moving forward and wants to put everything that happened in the past behind him.”

“The Woman in Me” will be released in bookstores on Tuesday, October 24th.
