A second British soldier captured in combat with the Ukrainian army was featured on Russian state television.
Shaun Pinner, 48, was featured in a chilling propaganda video released Saturday night.
“Hi, I’m Shaun Pinner, I’m a British citizen. I was captured in Mariupol. I’m part of the Ukrainian Naval Infantry of the First Battalion of the 36th Brigade,” he said in the video.
“I fought in Mariupol for five to six weeks and now I’m in the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
In the clip, the soldier was wearing a blue hoodie and had no visible bruises, but appeared tired.
Pinner – who is originally from Bedfordshire, England but had lived in the Ukrainian town of Donbass – had fought in the besieged town of Mariupol alongside his friend Aiden Aslin, 28, the Guardian reported.

Aslin – the first known British prisoner of war – was also filmed for a propaganda video released on Russian state television last week. In the clip, he was asked if he was responsible for any murders.
“I don’t know,” he answered nervously in English. “I didn’t fight.”
The Kremlin has claimed that 1,026 marines fighting for Ukraine – including 162 officers – surrendered “as a result of successful offensives by Russian forces and militia units of the Donetsk People’s Republic”, referring to the pro-Russian Ukrainian rebel forces.

Pinner had previously expressed fears about his capture.
“I fear for my life. The Russians will treat us differently if we are captured because we are British. I always think about being captured,” he told the Mail on Sunday in January.
But he said he feels an obligation to fight for his new home.
“I am defending my family and my adopted country here. Russia started this war. It is funded by Russia and driven by Russia, but we will fight them, let’s face it,” he said.
