Hugh, who is non-binary and uses she/them pronouns, said they were drugged by a couple – one of whom was her boyfriend – and left incapacitated for eight hours in an undisclosed apartment.

Brittany said she had her drink spiked three times, once by a bartender serving the drink, stressing that sometimes there’s no way to prevent it.

“By the way, I’ve been drugged three times. I know Laura had a situation. I have so many girlfriends who have been in that situation too,” she said.

“One of me had a date [and] One of me was a bartender which worried me a lot because you can be as careful as you like, cover your drinks and walk around a bar but if it comes from behind the bar when you ordered it it’s outside yours Control. ‘

Brittany said she suspects many spiking cases are not reported to the police because the victims cannot remember the details of what happened to them.

“It’s so problematic, but it’s so widespread, and I think a lot of people don’t know how widespread it is because it’s not widespread,” she said.

“I know when it happened to me, I didn’t do it because part of me was like, ‘Well, what are they even going to do about it? How are they going to prove it?” And you just think that, and I think most women think that if they don’t feel like they’re being heard 100 percent, then something can be done about it.

Laura added that she hopes everyone is “really aware” of the fact that people don’t just get peppered by strangers in nightclubs.

“It doesn’t just happen when you’re at a nightclub or hanging out with strangers,” she said. “My experience was with someone I thought was a friend.”

“And in this situation with Hugh Sheridan, it was someone [they] thought was [their] Friend. it was someone [they] knew, and I think that’s something that’s very underrepresented and not talked about enough.

“It’s so brave of Hugh to come forward and share this story.”
