Brooke Burke “hoped” To Have A “love Affair” With Derek Hough During “DWTS”

Brooke Burke claims she had an affair with Derek Hough – but she was married at the time.

From enemies to almost-lovers, things could have heated up between Brooke Burke and Derek Hough when they worked together on Dancing with the Stars.

Brooke, 52, revealed on former “DWTS” pro Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast on Monday that she and Hough, 38, originally “didn’t work out” before winning the Mirrorball Trophy in 2008, but ultimately made it I’m looking for couples therapy arranged by producers.

But in the end, the TV personality and former “DWTS” host admitted that she ended up having a “crush on Derek.”

“Wouldn’t I have been married? [to actor David Charvet] …I actually hoped we’d have a romantic relationship,” Brooke gushed to Cheryl.

“I would have had an affair with him. But listen, let me tell you why: If you’re not a dancer, you’re intertwined with someone’s body. There is no way I have ever been more connected – other than to a lover or a husband – than to Derek. And that every day.”

The Post has reached out to representatives for Brooke and Hough for comment.

Brooke continued: “So for three months you’re in someone’s arms. Why do you think people fall in love? You smell them, you feel them, you breathe with them. It can be more intimate than love in the bedroom – making love on the dance floor makes you feel more connected.”

“When you have energy, you do this dance and you’re in the rhythm, and then there’s trust, then you share the fear, you do something you’ve never done before.” How often do you have an experience with someone where they “Is all you have?” she asked.

Brooke revealed to Burke that she had only had “one experience with a person like that [outside the ballroom].

“Life-changing,” she called it.

Brooke and Charvet divorced in 2020.

Brooke also spoke about being ousted as “DWTS” host along with Tom Bergeron, 68, in 2014.

“I wasn’t given a reason. I think that’s the frustrating part,” Brooke told Cheryl of her sudden departure. “It would have been one thing if I was bad at the job, or if I had a problem or had an argument, or if I was a diva or if I was really complicated to work with, or if the audience just didn’t like me. There was really no reason.”

She continued: “I would have liked to have had a very mature, respectful conversation that would have gone something like this: ‘We are not renewing your contract and are making some changes.’ We’re looking at some new people and just want to give you a heads up. If you want to publicly support that, that would be great?'”

“Should we make an announcement together? Great,” Burke dreamed of how the conversation might have gone.

“I honestly would have accepted it, respected it and been all in,” she claimed.

Despite the drama, Burke was grateful for the experience.

“One of the greatest feelings was winning – but it also meant completing an experience and doing my best with everything I had. And I was really proud of that. Even though I didn’t win, I was really proud of…putting in for three months, seven days a week. So I left [that competition] say: ‘I can do anything!'”

She added: “I’m so happy I was able to go the distance and it wasn’t about winning. I’m fortunate that I’ve been able to face challenges and come out on the other side of them and learn how to communicate, how to show up for a partner, how to show up for myself, and how to have confidence in my own body and movement I learn to quiet the noise around me and be in a moment that scared the hell out of me.”
