A day after they agreed to trade Deshawn Watson, the Browns are also trading their backup quarterback.
According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, the Browns are trading Case Keenam to the Bills for a 2022 seventh-round pick.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Cavaliers are signing Jacoby Brisset to a one-year contract.
Keenum has spent the last two seasons with the Browns backing Baker Mayfield. He will now go to the Bills to support Josh Allen, replacing Mitchell Trubisky in the role. Keenum was 2-0 in the starting XI in 2021. In seven games, he completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 462 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
Brissett played 11 games with five starts last season for Miami, posting a 2-3 record. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,283 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Dolphins recently signed Teddy Bridgewater, who will be Tua Tagovaiola’s understudy in 2022.
With Brisset, the Browns will have an experienced QB if and when Watson is suspended for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
As of Saturday afternoon, Baker Mayfield also remains on the Cleveland roster. But, most likely, it will be exchanged sooner or later.
