Bruce Willis reappears in public. The Die Hard star is on the road for the first time since his illness. And it doesn’t hide, on the contrary. The photos taken during these hours show him in black overalls, one hand in his pocket, a blue sweatshirt and a gray wool hat flush with his eyes: the 67-year-old actor is walking with two friends on a Santa Monica sidewalk Los AngelesIn Californiaand reappears after the announcement of the diagnosis of dementia Frontotemporal shared by his family on social media: It was last February 16th. In the new photos and video (released by the Chron tabloid), the actor appears calm, allowing passers-by to take pictures of him, even as one of the two friends present tries to shield him. Almost a kind of protection from the John McClane who saved the world by fighting fearlessly against evil. Now the evil is real, it’s not a movie. And his struggle continues, from fiction to (sad) reality.

After his initial diagnosis of aphasia, a syndrome that makes it difficult to speak, Willis was forced to announce his retirement from the film industry. Last February, his wife Emma Heming, 44, informed fans of her husband’s condition in a post on Instagram, which was later also picked up by the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration website: “From the moment we arrived in spring 2022 announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia. Unfortunately, communication difficulties are just one symptom of Bruce’s disease. While it’s painful, it’s a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.” His wife had added that “there is no cure today for this disease, a reality we hope will change in the years to come will change”.

Bruce Willis, the mother: «My son no longer recognizes me and has become aggressive». The torment of relatives

Bruce Willis, his wife Emma: “He wants to be remembered as a funny father, he tries to leave positive memories for his daughters”

“As Bruce’s condition progresses, we hope media attention can focus on shedding light on this disease, which requires much more awareness and research. Bruce has always believed in using his voice around the world to help others and raise awareness of important issues both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that he would like to respond to those who are dealing with this debilitating disease.”

THE MOTHER AND THE CHILDREN

Willis’ mother, Mrs. Marlene, had said a few days ago: «His movements are very slow, with a constant presence of a certain aggression and it is no longer possible to have a normal conversation with him. It’s hard to recognize me now. However, this behavior is typical of patients with the same clinical conditions». The woman then explained that she was particularly saddened by the children and wife of Willis and the pain they are going through: “Scout and Tallulah are two very strong girls who are there for their father now as he is for them there was.” Willis has five daughters: Evelyn and Mabel, aged 8 and 10 respectively, by his current wife, British model-ex-Emma Heming-Willis. Rumer (34), Scout (31) and Tallulah (29), from his marriage to actress Demi Moore, from whom he divorced in 2000.
