BOSTON – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced the following roster transactions today, December 14th:
The team placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward Pavel Zacha on injured reserve; recalled forward Patrick Brown of Providence; has recalled defenseman Parker Wotherspoon from Providence in an emergency.
McAvoy, 25, has played in 21 games for Boston this season, recording three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. The 1.80 meter tall, 90 kilogram blueliner has played 401 NHL games for Boston in his career, scoring a total of 44 goals and 203 assists, which corresponds to 247 points. The Long Beach, New York, native was originally selected by Boston in the first round (14th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Zacha, 26, has played in 26 games for Boston this season, scoring eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points. The 1.80 meter tall, 100 kilogram forward has played 494 NHL games for Boston and New Jersey in his career, scoring a total of 98 goals and 157 assists, which corresponds to 255 points. The Brno, Czech Republic native was originally selected by New Jersey in the first round (6th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Brown, 31, has played in eight games for Boston this season, recording one assist. The 1.90 meter tall, 100 kilogram forward also appeared in six games for Providence this season, scoring a total of one goal and one assist for two points. Brown has played in 146 career NHL games for Boston, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Vegas and Carolina, recording 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points. The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native was originally signed by Carolina as a free agent in 2014.
Wotherspoon, 26, has played in three games for Boston this season, recording one assist. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound blueliner also appeared in 19 games for Providence this season, totaling one goal and four assists for five points. Wotherspoon has played in 15 career NHL games for Boston and the New York Islanders, recording two assists. The Surrey, British Columbia native was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
