Mayor Bruno Reis announced this Friday (26) during the opening of the 2nd Expo Carnival at the Convention Center in Boca do Rio that the preCarnival period and Carnival will be extended to 12 holidays in 2024.

The celebrations begin with the celebration of the Yemanjá Festival, scheduled for February 2nd, which will coincidentally fall on a Friday in 2024. The following weekend, on the 3rd and 4th, the traditional carnival warmup events, Fuzuê and Furdunço, take place.
Continuing the program, on Monday 5th, an unprecedented event with Xanddy Harmonia, which was a private party and will now be free. On Tuesday the now traditional Pipoco with Léo Santana takes place. On Wednesday the fanfare round by Sérgio Bezerra. And from Thursday the official carnival season begins.
“Carnival brings more than R$1.5 billion into our economy. This increases the community’s income and these resources can be reinvested in the areas of health, social affairs and education,” said Bruno Reis, emphasizing the importance of the event for the capital of Bahia.
The mayor also highlighted City Hall’s efforts to keep tourism strong yearround by investing in the opening of the Salvador Convention Center to attract business events and creating new calendars such as November Salvador Capital Afro.
“We had the months of July, August, September, October and November with the highest number of visitors in the city’s history. On certain weekends we have 100% hotel occupancy. In November the average will be 90%,” he explained.
Bruno Reis took advantage of the event to invite representatives of the country’s other carnival cities to work together to promote tourism: “Together we can consolidate the carnival product as a strong Brazilian product that will help attract thousands of foreign visitors,” with This will be one have an even greater positive impact on the Brazilian economy.
