Bryan Adams tried to help Amy Winehouse.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the Run to You singer opened up about his friendship with Amy Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning in 2011 at the age of 27.

There were rumors that the singer took the musician to his Mustique villa in 2007 to help her get sober, and today he looks back on that trip.

“I invited them to spend the holidays with my family,” he said.

“Of course I tried to help him, but it has to come from within,” he continues.

Bryan Adams revealed that he encouraged the Back to Black singer to go vegan during her stay and served her carrot and beet juice, which she wasn't impressed with.

The musician, who befriended Amy after photographing her, was saddened by her untimely death.

“I really don't know what happened to Amy and it's so sad because she was very, very talented and I admired her individuality immensely,” he adds.

Amy Winehouse became famous in 2003 when she was just 20 years old with her album Frank. But it was her follow-up, “Back To Black,” that brought her onto the international stage, especially with her song “Rehab,” in which she sang “I don’t want to go to rehab, no, no, no.” Foreshadowing words for the singer, who suffered from depression, drug addiction, alcoholism and bulimia. She was found dead in London on July 23, 2011. A biographical film dedicated to his life, “Back to Black,” will be released in April 2024.
