K-pop like it’s hot. “I’ll let her tell you about it,” he told The AV Club, before appearing to confirm the news. “It’s officially like a referee with a whistle. I love this entertainment world. It’s good music. It is [a] Mood.”
Billboard has reached out to BTS officials for comment.
The seven-piece K-pop group first hinted at their admiration for the rapper Drop It Like It’s Hot when they included a nod to his debut album Doggystyle in their 2014 track Hip Hop Phile. According to Snoop, that admiration goes both ways. “I make good music. They make good music,” he continued. “And that’s what we end up doing. That’s what it’s always about, bringing our worlds together.”
The BTS ARMY has been waiting for this news since January, when Snoop Dogg revealed on the podcast Mogul Talk that the boy band had reached out to him. “I have a group called BTS waiting for me to do a song with them right now.” he said the moderators of the show. “And I’m trying to figure out if I have time for that.”
Although Snoop didn’t know how big BTS was at the time of the podcast’s appearance, he’s been contributing his voice to K-pop projects for years. “I’ve had the K-pop experience connected to the music world for a long time [and] scene,” Snoop reminded AV Club. “I got a record back then with a group called 2NE1.
“Come on, that’s what I do.”
