Quotes at the opening of the book Vienna 22:

“Buch Wien has become one of the most important German-speaking book fairs, in particular the most flexible, modern and most interesting fair for visitors and exhibitors. Nowhere else is the exchange between publishers, booksellers, authors and readers as intense as in Buch Wien, the place of literature, knowledge and information.” Benedikt Föger, President of the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade

“Book fairs like Buch Wien are special and irreplaceable. They are public places of communication and markets for ideas, conceptions and stories. They put authors and their books in the media spotlight. They generate publicity for culture and knowledge – and above all, of course, for literature. Books are the opposite of those reality makers who reject reality and Internet communication and treat facts as if they were mere opinions. Books have no followers. Books have readers,” said Secretary of State for Art and Culture, Andrea Mayer, in her opening speech.

“The aim of Buch Wien is clear: with our numerous events we want to send a strong signal against the increasing spread of disinformation and we always strive to make fact-based knowledge easily accessible to our visitors. The numerous renowned journalists who consciously prepare and critically moderate our 402 events make a special contribution to the success of this claim,” explains Patrick Zöhrer, managing director of Buch Wien
