A rare and surprising event happened this weekend in Miami, Florida. A Brightline high-speed train crashed into a car that ‘busted’ the safety barrier. The event happened near Midtown and was recorded by several people from other vehicles. Videos of the accident immediately went viral on social media. The moment when the car brakes on the other side of the barrier after driving under the barrier can be clearly observed. The conductor even walked a little further before the express passed.
After the violent impact, a woman immediately got out of the passenger seat. The train continued its journey for a few more moments before it managed to stop the march completely.
Miami-Dade Police responded at the scene to assess the potential damage. Only a few minutes later it was announced that no injuries had been reported.
High-speed trains in the spotlight
This is not the first and will not be the only time bullet train accidents have been reported in Florida.
Similar events have happened in recent years. For example, in April 2022, the impact occurred against a car on the street in the city of Aventura, Miami-Dade County.
Surveillance camera video saw the driver of a gray sedan breach the security barrier. She drove against the traffic directly onto the railway line. The strong impact shattered the front of the car.
The most surprising thing about this accident was that the driver got out of the vehicle on her own feet. She was immediately transferred to the nearest hospital, where her only regret was a small cut on her forehead.
Several weeks prior to this impact, some passengers were trapped on a Brightline train for more than two hours. It happened after it collided with a trailer truck with a Tesla.
