A flaming Russian plane fell from the sky and exploded in a field after reportedly being hit by a Ukrainian missile.
The Ukrainian military said the plane was shot down near the town of Novaya Kakhovka in the southern Kherson region.
The Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on July 19: “Video of a shot down Russian Su-35 fighter jet in the Novaya Kakhovka area.
“Honour to Ukraine! Together to Victory!”

Footage shows a flaming wreck falling from the sky, leaving a trail of black smoke.
The large object, apparently a destroyed fighter plane, then hits the ground in a field and explodes in a huge fireball.
Zenger News has contacted the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for further comment, as well as the Russian Defense Ministry, but had received no response at the time of writing.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 in what the Kremlin calls a “military special operation.” Wednesday marks the 147th day of the invasion.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between February 24 and July 20 Russia lost about 38,750 soldiers, 1,700 tanks, 3,905 armored fighting vehicles, 856 artillery units, 250 multiple missile systems, 113 air defense systems, 221 combat aircraft, 188 helicopters, 703 drones , 167 cruise missiles, 15 warships, 2,775 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 70 units of special equipment.
Further developments in the Russia-Ukraine war:
Turkey has said a resumption of Ukrainian grain exports across the Black Sea is “likely” after a meeting with Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations to discuss “small issues”.
EU foreign ministers have approved a 500 million euro ($510 million) financing package for arms sales to Ukraine, bringing the total to 2.5 billion euros ($2.55 billion) since February . EU foreign ministers are also reportedly discussing a ban on Russian gold imports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has held talks with Iranian leaders and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Tehran.
During the visit, the National Iranian Oil Company and Russian energy giant Gazprom signed a memorandum of understanding worth around $40 billion.
While Putin was in Tehran, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired both the head and deputy director of his country’s spy agency. He also sacked Ukraine’s prosecutor general and several regional security chiefs after more than 650 cases of alleged collusion or treason came to light.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska was in Washington, where she held talks with senior figures including First Lady Jill Biden. She will address lawmakers on Capitol Hill on July 20, apparently trying to secure more military aid from the US to Kyiv
The independent Russian television channel TV Rain, which was shut down by the Russian authorities in early March, has resumed broadcasting from Latvia. The Kremlin closed the channel shortly after the invasion of Ukraine began because it had described it as a “war” rather than a “military special operation.”
Internal dissent has continued as Russian tennis star Daria Kasatkina called for an end to the “war” in a recent interview with Russian blogger Vitya Kravchenko. The 25-year-old Russian number one and world number 12, who lives in Dubai, described the invasion as a “full blown nightmare”.
She also took aim at Moscow’s stance on homosexuality, asking: “If there is a choice, no one would choose to be gay, why make life harder for yourself, especially in Russia?”
While being gay is not illegal in Russia, homophobia is commonplace and the dissemination of “gay propaganda” among minors is prohibited.
