Businessman who assaulted cleaning lady asks forgiveness but hearing ends with no deal

Businessman Rafael Birro, 35, apologized to cleaning lady Lenirge Alves de Lima, 50, during a hearing at the Special Criminal Court of Coração Eucarístico, northwestern region of Belo Horizonte this Friday morning (14). He classified the act against the worker as “unbalanced” and “ridiculous”. Despite this, the hearing ended with no agreement and a new meeting was scheduled for next Wednesday (19) at 9am at the same location.

“Prior to this, lawyers for both parties will attempt to conduct a civil settlement in order to reach an amicable solution. If successful, Judge Arilson D’Assunção Alves, who presided over the hearing, must be informed,” the Special Court expert said.

Under the counsel’s guidance, cleaning lady Lenirge Alves remained silent during the hearing.

The worker was attacked and humiliated on September 16 in the Lourdes district of Belo Horizonte’s centralsouth region. She was attacked by him on the grounds that she was “wasting water” washing the sidewalk of the building where she works.
