Busy Phillips honors her best friend, Michelle Williamsafter receiving her fifth Oscar nomination today, January 24th!
The 43-year-old actress took to Instagram to congratulate the 42-year-old after receiving her latest Oscar nomination. In the post, Philipps shared a photo of Williams when she was young, in which she donned gray pants and a black tank top, her hair tousled while she gave the camera a blank stare.
“BRB – I’m just going to go back in time and tell this kid they’re going to have 5 OSCAR NOMINATIONS in the next 20 years. 😭 And a BEAUTIFUL family. And be surrounded by love. (And GORGEOUS CLOTHES),” Phillips wrote in the caption.
“But tbh – that’s probably what I said to her at the time. I love you MW I’m forever proud of you for building the life and career you dreamed of, even though the absolutely overwhelming sadness of being human has sometimes made you wonder if you could. But then you would dig deep and try again. It’s one of my favorite things about you. You NEVER stopped trying,” she continued, adding, “A new path, a new recipe, a new parenting style, a new author, a new approach to work, a new love, a new role… but always the same loving brilliant gentle sensitive funny wild thoughtful beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL you. ❤️🌟”
Williams has been nominated for Best Actress at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards for her performance in The Fabelmans, in which she portrays a fictionalized version of Steven Spielberg’s Mother in the director’s film, which was released in November 2022.
The actress competes in the category against five other nominees including Cate Blanchett (Tar), Ana de Armas (Blond), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) and Michelle Yeoh (All everywhere at once).
Williams’ Oscar nomination comes six years after she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for “Manchester by the Sea,” which premiered in 2016 and 2006 for Brokeback Mountain.
