Caisse mandate: “We are aiming for June,” says Minister Guilbault –

The Minister of Transport concludes the debate on the timing of the contract for CDPQ Infra to find a public transport project for Quebec City. It will be in June, no offense to Mayor Bruno Marchand.

The six-month mandate of the Caisse de dépôt officially ends in June. When Geneviève Guilbault was questioned at the end of the Council of Ministers, she was clear: we are aiming for June, a deadline of six months.

In their opinion, the fund’s mandate has therefore not yet begun.

The minister is putting an end to pressure from the mayor of Quebec, who wanted the Caisse to make its recommendations for the Quebec project at the beginning of May. The CAQ has decided to take the tram project away from the city of Quebec and transfer it to CDPQ Infra. The decision was announced to the Mayor of Quebec during his meeting with Prime Minister François Legault in early November.

Bruno Marchand estimates that the Caisse’s mandate began the next day, November 9th.

“We are starting this operation, finding the way of working, the committees, the governance structure, we are there,” said Minister Guilbault, justifying the delay of a few more weeks before the official start of the mandate.

Geneviève Guilbault also said that a few more meetings were needed to properly organize the further process. We are currently in the process of taking stock of the work in progress, there are several things.

Responsibility

The minister also made it clear that she did not want to give the impression that she was blaming Quebec City for the delay in starting the fund’s work.

On Tuesday, she stressed that, unlike her ministry, the city of Quebec had not yet sent all the documents necessary for the smooth running of the mandate. “I don’t want anyone to think that I’m saying that the city is holding back their studies, on the contrary,” she said today.

The minister confirms that he has spoken twice with the mayor of Quebec in the last few hours to ensure good cooperation. She says things are going very well.
