Caitlyn Jenner is making it clear how involved she was in the release of her stepdaughter Kim Kardashian’s infamous 2007 sex tape.
The 73-year-old former Olympian claimed in Sky’s new documentary House Of Kardashian that she had almost no knowledge of the tape’s contents or publication – and she tried to leave it at that.
“Whatever is going on, I don’t know what it is, and I’m going to go to the golf course,” she recalls thinking her family was overwhelmed by controversy at the time.
“To be honest, I just stayed out of it,” she continued.
Although Caitlyn claimed she had no role in releasing the 2003 tape, Kim’s co-star and ex-boyfriend Ray J exclusively told DailyMail.com in May 2022 that Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, watched two different sex tapes before making her decision which one should release.

However, Kris and Kim have always denied having any involvement in the release of the sex tape and have long maintained that it was leaked without their knowledge or consent.
“Kris never spoke to me about it. I never talked to Kimberly about it. “I don’t know what happened or why it happened,” Caitlyn continued in the documentary via E! continued. News.
The transgender icon was questioned about whether Kim and Kris “worked together to release the sex tape.”
“I have no idea,” she claimed.
“I’ve never had this conversation before,” she continued, adding, “I didn’t want to have this conversation either.”
Kim’s sex tape was eventually released after her family’s reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians was already in the works, but before it was filmed.
Much of the series premiere was spent dealing with the tape amid the newfound publicity and infamy of Kim — and her family.
In this episode, Kris made no indication that she was involved in the tape’s release, although she did admit to trying to make the best of an awkward situation.
“When I first heard about Kim’s sex tape as her mother, I wanted to kill her,” she explained in the episode. “But as her manager, I knew I had a job to do and I really just wanted her to get over it.”

But not everyone involved in making the sex tape rejected a Kardashian-Jenner role upon release.
In May 2022, Ray J spoke to DailyMail.com about the “Kim Kardashian, Superstar” video and said that three different videos were being considered for release, two of which were sex videos featuring him and Kim.
He also claimed that Kris watched the tapes – including the two videos of her daughter performing oral sex and intercourse with Ray J – to determine which ones would be released.
The R&B singer claimed that Kim has always owned the original tapes and currently has the second unreleased tape.
He added that he was never in possession of the tapes, although he is said to be in a business relationship with his ex and her mother.
“I have never leaked anything. I have never released a sex tape in my life. “There’s never been a leak,” he said. “It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and I, and we’ve always been partners since the beginning.”
He admitted to having the original idea of releasing a sex tape and Kim agreed, although she claimed that she was always against the idea of releasing a sex tape.
Ray J admitted that he had regretted releasing the tapes for years, as he had received a lot of criticism for releasing the tapes, but said that he was prevented from doing so by the contract he signed – which he supposedly agreed to to defend publicly without legal advice.
He said he decided to speak out after an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians featured Kim’s claims that she was concerned that Ray J would reveal more explicit material about her.

Her then-husband Kanye West then purchased a laptop from Ray J that allegedly contained more adult content, and the rapper said his family would no longer be “blackmailed.”
But Ray J painted a different picture, claiming he gave the laptop away for free after hearing that Kim and Kanye were concerned the contents might have been leaked.
Kim later claimed that it only contained a single video of her and Ray J eating, but he said that was false and said that it contained several photos and short videos of intimate scenes with Kim and him.
What’s worse, he also claimed that on the laptop were emails that Kim allegedly sent to him in the years following the 2007 sex tape release, which disclosed details of their alleged business arrangement and subsequent communications could.
