The Montreal Canadiens forward was very happy with what he will face on Monday night.

“For me it is a [Connor] McDavid in defense is a talent we may not see for the next 50 years, Drouin said Monday after the team’s morning training session at the Bell Centre. The way he skates maybe encourages young people to play a little bit of defense when they are 7 or 8 years old. It will open the door for many defenders.

“You can’t learn the way he skates. You were born with it. […] Everyone talks about his attack, but defensively, with his skate, even if you beat him and you’re happy with your move, he’s still there. He showed that in the playoffs last year. It’s impressive to see.”

Makar may be “only” 10th in the National League and has 52 points in 51 games as a defender, but his 52 points in 51 games puts him third in the points per game category behind Erik Karlsson and Rasmus Dahlin.

The Avalanche defender has missed 13 games for his team this season.
