A well-known athletic trainer was arrested Thursday in Southern California after he was accused of allegedly sexually assaulting teenage girls, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
Chris Flores, 37, of Bellflower, was snapped during a traffic stop after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of underage sexual misconduct.
Police launched an investigation when allegations from the celebrity trainer claimed he had reportedly groomed and touched two minors.
According to Santa Ana Police, allegations against Flores began circulating when leaked voice footage between him and a 14-year-old girl surfaced on social media.
In voice audio, obtained exclusively from ABC7, a male voice can be heard asking, “Did you delete something?” while the minor confirms that the lyrics have been deleted.
The male voice asks her out on a date, but the girl declines his offer.
“What the hell? We can never relax and now you don’t want to go and you’re going straight to school,” the man said. “So stop being a fool.”
Police confirmed that the voice in the audio messages belonged to Flores. The girl told Santa Ana Police that Flores, who acted as her trainer, allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times throughout 2021.
Known as “Coach Frogg,” Flores is linked to several high-profile collegiate and professional athletes who have either trained or worked with him.
Former NFL cornerback Jason David expressed his disappointment in a video statement posted to Instagram, saying he would cut ties with the coach amid the investigation.
David and Flores trained side by side and started an athletic program called STARS Prep Academy in 2017, according to ESPN.
“Never in a million years would I imagine releasing a public statement to address allegations of sexual misconduct involving Mr. Flores and our innocent little girls,” David said on Instagram. “I have a bad stomach. i am disgusted I’m outraged.”
The program uses Santiago Middle School’s campus to train in Orange County — which enrolled around 100 students in the 2021 academic year, according to ESPN.
High-profile players such as Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei are affiliated with the Rising STARS program.
Flores is currently in the Orange County Jail and his bail has been set at $500,000.
Police believe there are more victims and are urging everyone to comment on Flores.
