California reports highest average gas price in the country

According to the AAA, California reports the highest average gas price in the country, at over $5 a gallon.

As of Friday, March 18, 2022, Golden State reported the highest average gas price nationwide at $5,800, more than a dollar more than the national average of $4,274. California’s Mono County, in particular, reports the highest prices in the state, with an average price of $6,537.

Prices are incredibly high all along the West Coast, with Nevada having an average of $5,041, followed by Washington ($4,723), Oregon ($4,702) and Arizona ($4,611).

Other states reporting the highest gas prices in the country include Alaska ($4.707), Hawaii ($5.118), Illinois ($4.526), New York ($4.392), and Connecticut ($4.372).

Kansas and Missouri seem to be reporting the lowest national averages of $3,787 and $3,788 respectively.

President Joe Biden refused to take responsibility for undermining American energy independence and pursuing bad policies leading to skyrocketing prices. Rather, he placed the blame on both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the oil and gas companies.

Most Americans say rising gas prices have caused financial hardship and want Biden to prioritize boosting US energy production. However, the White House is not giving much hope, warning that prices “will continue to rise.”
