Cambodia with mixed progress on Covid 19 vaccination campaign

Phnom Penh, March 14 (Prensa Latina) The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 today shows uneven progress in Cambodia, which currently has only four active cases and no new infections.

While more than 14 million 645,000 people received up to the second dose of the immunogen, only 303,000 attended the sixth injection to date, according to a detailed report by the Khmer Times newspaper.

The fifth dose has already been given to just over 1,745 citizens and the fourth to almost 5,125,000, the publication added, revealing that people’s apathy and lack of confidence in the need for the campaign appear to be the reasons, according to a random street poll big differences.

Other respondents said they are unaware of the continuity of the vaccination process, although the Ministry of Health has set up vaccination centers in crowded areas such as pagodas and other public areas.

The newspaper recalled that according to statistics from the World Health Organization, between February 6 and March 5, almost 4.5 million new cases and 32,000 deaths were reported worldwide, while the total since the beginning of the pandemic exceeds 759 million patients and more than 6 .8 million deaths.

In the case of Cambodia, according to the report offered yesterday by the health portfolio, there have been no new infections so far, four cases remain active and a total of 138,700 infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and three thousand 056 deaths are the scourge of the disease.

The kingdom declared itself a Covid-19 free area on November 11 after curing the only two active cases existing at the time, but weeks later it again discovered other infected people, albeit in extremely small numbers so far.
