What is mine is not yours.
Cameron Diaz says it should be “normalized” for married couples to not only have separate bedrooms, but also separate homes.
The 51-year-old, who has been married to Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden since 2015, made the revelations during an appearance on Molly Sims and Emese Gormley's Lipstick on the Rim podcast on Tuesday.
“For me, I would literally say, I have my house, you have yours,” she said. “We have the family house in the middle. I'll go to sleep in my room. You go to sleep in your room. I'm doing well.”
“And we have the bedroom in the middle where we can meet for our relationships,” “The Holiday” actress added.
The hot take was well received by the podcast hosts, who said Diaz probably shouldn't have shared her unorthodox opinion with the public.

“I already said it,” Diaz replied. “By the way, I don't feel that way anymore because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married.”
Diaz and Madden welcomed their daughter Raddix in January 2020.
While the What Happens in Vegas actress has kept a low profile in recent years since retiring from acting, she has publicly praised her husband on several occasions.

“[Marriage] “It was the biggest thing I did in my 40s, and it opened me up in different ways,” Diaz told Harper's Bazaar in May 2016.
“It's pretty awesome. I didn't think I would do this, and I don't know if I would have done it if I hadn't met my husband. It was a surprise.”
Diaz fondly confessed that “no one compares to the rocker.”

“Everything else just fades away and disappears,” she told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show this year. “You realize, 'Oh yeah, this is reality.' This is true love. This is real commitment and dedication. This is the person you build your life with.' … And I know this is special.”
Madden, for his part, commented on his famous wife on Instagram in 2018.
“There are so many things that make me so proud of you and how special you are. Thank you for being the best friend and partner to me and for taking this journey of marriage,” he wrote at the time.
“The way you live your life every day and your compassion for the world shines through [sic] in your eyes and you inspire me to want to be the best man I can be in this life. You are the realest. I am so grateful that I can be yours forever and ever and call you my One&Only. True love ❤️.”
